Police save man attempting to set himself on fire

Police officers saved the life of a man threatening to set himself on fire.

Officers, from across the South Hams were called to an address in Modbury where a man was threatening to set himself alight. When they arrived, the found him in his living room with a lighter, having doused himself in petrol. 

The officer soaked the man with a fire extinguisher in order to prevent him from going up in flames and saving his life.

In a week where police officers have been the target of violence in the UK, we are very lucky to have our local community officers there to help us when we need them.
